Media Conversion

The Center for Teaching and Learning has technology for duplicating and migrating data to and from a variety of media, including digital audio or video files, CD, DVD, and digital video cassettes. Faculty are welcome to use this equipment and software for these and other media conversion tasks:

  • Digitally archiving old VHS tape footage
  • Compiling multiple video from different sources to one or more DVDs, which can incorporate menu features
  • Converting VHS footage from international video formats such as SECAM and PAL to NTSC, the North American standard for video
  • Creating multiple VHS copies from one video source
  • Duplicating DVDs and CD-ROMS

To make an appointment with a consultant, call 317-274-1300, or email thectl@iupui.edu. A consultant will help you learn how to use the technology to achieve your objectives. The list below outlines the Center for Teaching and Learning's media conversion/copying options:

  • Video Capabilities
    • VHS to DVD or VHS
    • Mini DV to DVD or VHS
    • SECAM or PAL (international formats) to DVD or VHS
    • DVD dubbing or VHS, DVD, or Mini DV copied to multiple VHS tapes at once
    • AVI to WMV, RM, QuickTime, Flash video
  • Audio Capabilities
    • WAV, AIFF to MP3, AAC, WMA
    • Audio recording
    • Cassette to digital formats
