In collaboration with other campus units, the CTL organizes events designed to inform, stimulate, challenge, and rejuvenate teaching faculty at all stages of their careers. We offer workshops covering basic teaching topics and strategies, as well as introductory sessions on Oncourse CL and other teaching technologies. Each semester we present full-day symposia focusing on more advanced or specialized topics to engage faculty, both as participants and presenters. We also offer customized workshops for schools and departments focused on specific professional development needs and interests.
The best place to learn about upcoming CTL events is our web site. Information about events scheduled on or shortly before the current day are listed on the Upcoming Events area of our home page. To see a complete list of scheduled events, visit the CTL events calendar. Each listing in the calendar includes the title, description, date, and time, along with a link to register for the event. Another great way to stay in the know about upcoming events is to subscribe to the CTL announcement mailing list. The CTL uses the list to distribute information about events and programs that are likely to be of interest to the entire campus community. To sign up, fill out the subscription form.
All CTL-sponsored events are free, and most are open to the entire campus and/or the public. All participants, however, are asked to register online in advance. We use the registration data to generate nametags and attendance sheets, as well as to ensure that we have sufficient materials, seating, and food (in the case of longer events). To register for an event, locate its entry in the CTL events calendar, click "Register for the event", and follow the instructions on the screen. When you complete your registration, you will receive an immediate email confirmation. A follow-up reminder will be sent the day before the event occurs.
